Water Management Plan
This standard describes the requirements to ensure that at each mine there is a clear strategy and plan to safely manage water. This standard requires that mine design plans incorporate those strategies to continue the management of water as the mine develops. The strategy incorporates the understanding of water make and usage, the collection, containment, drainage, pumping and disposal of water. The intent of this standard is to achieve statutory compliance and best management practice incorporating safety, environmental and cost effectiveness in the management of water at all mines. This standard designates who is responsible for achieving these requirements.
An effective mine water management plan provides for the measurement and understanding of the anticipated water and the means by which planning and safe management of that water should be achieved. An effective water management plan accommodates the corporate requirements of the major hazard standard Inrushes and Subsidence.
